T.A.S.H.A.  Show Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to the success of each of our shows!  TASHA offers several opportunities for members and friends to get involved with the shows whether or not they are currently riding or own a horse.  No experience is necessary!!!  We train at the show.  This is a great way to learn all about showing, experience the fun, and meet all the competitors and trainers!

A Volunteer may work one or more sessions and choose different positions in different sessions.  There are four sessions at each show,  Saturday and Sunday morning sessions (usually 9AM to noon) and Saturday and Sunday afternoon sessions (usually 1 to 4PM).  Please contact tasha@texasasha.org  if you can assist in any way.

  • Show Volunteers Needed per Session

First Place / Trophy Presenter (1 Adult or Youth):  Present first place, championship ribbon, and/or trophy / prize to the first place competitor.  Pose with the competitor for photo in winner’s circle.  Wear presentable clothes.  Remember, the photos taken are pictures that the competitor should be proud to display!  Riding habits are acceptable for those wishing to volunteer in between classes.  Special trophies may be presented by their donor with competitors being given a “take home” award in place of the actual trophy.

2nd – 6th Place Ribbon Presenters (1 Adult or Older Youth):  The ribbons will already be set out on a table near the exit gate.  The Ribbon Presenter will open the exit gate when the class is in the lineup.  Stand inside the show ring near the exit gate to present ribbons as the competitors leave

the show ring.  Be alert to the announcer declaring placements and which color ribbon corresponds to that placement.  Be alert and cautious around the horses when handing out ribbons!

Table Sales - Info (2-4 adults):  These are fun spots for selling TASHA T-shirts, or other merchandise.  May handle memberships, scholarship entries, contests, or tickets for awards banquets.  Must be able to handle money, be friendly and helpful!

Childrens' Craft Table (2 adults or Responsible Teenagers):  This is a fun, free activity for children, and can involve glue guns, glitter, scissors, paints, markers, etc.  Must be able to coordinate multiple children at the same time, keeping them entertained and safe.  Hours of operation is determined by the Youth Activities Coordinator.

  • Two Paid Positions - $50 per Day

To assure the “show goes on”, these vital positions are filled for the day

Paddock Master (1 Adult per day):  Confirms the presence of the riders in the warm up ring by matching rider numbers with a list of class participants.  Communicates with the Announcer and Ring Master as necessary using a two way radio.  Requests “gate holds” as needed by the trainers.  Open and close the gate for class entry into the show ring.  Conveys to the Announcer when the class is full.

Ring Master (1 adult per day):  Positioned with the judge in Center Ring.  Uses a two way radio to communicate with the Paddock Master and Announcer.  Paddock Master notifies Ring Master that the class is full and the gate is closed.  Communicates the judge’s gait requests during the class and final placement of riders after each class to the Announcer.  Assists the judge with all ring requests.  Stays alert to possible problems with horses or riders.  Protects the judge!
