RULES FOR DETERMINING HIGH POINT AWARDS Effective 2008-2009 v To be eligible to receive High Point Awards, entrants must be members of the T.A.S.H.A. Horses must be purebred registered American Saddlebreds (except for Academy classes). Owner must be a member of the T.A.S.H.A. and recorded owner of the horse during the award year. v For each award year points from listed T.A.S.H.A. shows are summed. v In performance and pleasure classes, a separate point total is kept for each horse that a rider shows in a given division. In all academy and equitation classes, a single total is kept for each rider, regardless of how many different horses he or she shows in the division. v Points are awarded based on the following rules: -Classes with 6 or more entries : 1st place receives 6 points; 2nd receives 5; 3rd receives 4; 4th receives 3; 5th receives 2 points; 6th receives 1 point. –Classes with 1 to 5 entries: each receives 1 point plus 1 point for each entry beaten. Example: Class with three entries 1st Place-- 1 Point + 2 beaten = 3 2nd Place-- 1 Point + 1 beaten = 2 3rd Place-- 1 Point + 0 beaten = 1 Both qualifying classes and championships will be awarded points. Championship classes will earn 3 bonus points per placing along with the regular points—for example: 6 Ribbons with 6 or More Horses in the Class 1st Place -- 6 Points + 3 = 9 2nd Place -- 5 Points + 3 = 8 3rd Place -- 4 Points + 3 = 7 4th Place -- 3 Points + 3 = 6 5th Place -- 2 Points + 3 = 5 6th Place -- 1 Point + 3 = 4 v High Point Awards may be added for a division in which a championship class is held. Award Divisions may be determined each season, based upon participation levels. v A competitor must earn at least 4 points in order to receive a High Point Award. Otherwise, no award is given for that division. v A Reserve High Point will be made in any division that has at least 6 horses or riders during the award year. (Membership in T.A.S.H.A. is not required for horse/rider count). In the case of a tie for Championship, no reserve awards will be given. v Jr Exhibitor class points will be counted towards the respective T.A.S.H.A. Amateur/Pleasure Division. i.e.… 3 gaited jr. exhibitor counts toward TASHA 3 gaited amateur; 5 gaited pleasure jr. exhibitor counts toward TASHA 5 gaited pleasure ( for example Pin Oak Charity Horse show divisions) v With the exception of Academy classes, the following classes are not counted toward any High Point awards: maiden, UPHA Pleasure Medallion, model, Saddle & Bridle, gentlemen only, and any other qualifying classes in which winners are excluded from any further competition for the rest of the award year. TASHA High Point Awards are sponsored by Texas American Saddle Horse Association and include all TASHA shows and the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show
